Customised progression lengths

Myopes move their eyes less than hyperopes to obtain the same visual field. They use a smaller part of the lens for the same object field. They need good long-distance vision and quick access to broad near visual fields.

Hyperopes move their eyes more than myopes to obtain the same visual field. They use a wider part of the lens for the same object field. They are looking for sharp, immediate vision at all distances.

The Ovation® lens design is personalised according to the visual requirements of each wearer type by taking into consideration vertical and horizontal prismatic effects (FV Power + addition). Ovation® offers three specific models designed for different types of ametropia.

Due to 3 different progression lengths applied to the Ovation design:

  • The myope is easily able to access near vision, without any field restrictions
  • The slight ametrope regains good near vision while still preserving natural eye movement
  • The hypermetrope has to make no particular effort to see well at all distances.

Customised near vision decentration

Hyperopic and myopic patients need different near- vision decentration to accommodate the lateral prismatic effect of plus and minus progressive lenses.

With a plus lens, light from a near object is converged or deviated laterally toward the base or centre of the lens, causing the wearer’s eyes to converge more in a corrective lens.

With a minus lens, light from a near object is diverged or deviated laterally toward the base or edge of the lens, causing the wearer’s eyes to converge less in a corrective lens.

To compensate for both situations, Ovation® lenses have customised near vision decentration to match the wearer’s gaze by prescription - more for hyperopic patients and less for myopic patients. Natural convergence is maintained.

Short progression lengths fit all frames

Due to its short progression length associated with exceptional softness, Ovation® can be used with small or large frames, while still respecting each wearer’s visual comfort.

In a small frame, Ovation® offers myopes and slight ametropes a short progressive length associated with exceptional softness.
